Round 8 - GNCC Race Report

We finally had wonderful weather for the weekend at Tomahawk but the results were not what we were looking for as a whole. Even with the not so happy results, Tely Energy Race Team ended up with 4 podium finishes, 5 top 5 finishers and 9 top ten finishers on the weekend.

One of our bright spots on the weekend was our solo ATV rider, Ronnie Rusch. It took Ronnie a couple laps to get around first place with some blocking and bumping happening, but once he got around they saw nothing but his dust for the rest of the race. To show his dominance, he ended up winning his class by almost 3 minutes and earned himself the Top Amateur spot on the day.

The pro bike race was a rough one from start to finish. Steward Baylor and Grant Baylor both had bike issues that caused problems from start to finish. Stew made his way all the way to 4th but a long pit stop put him too far behind to catch up. Grant Baylor only got 2 laps in on the day before another issue with the bike shortened his day.

Zach Nolan had another good race. He climbed all the way to 12th and stayed there for the rest of the race. He is looking forward to his home state race at Snowshoe in a couple weeks.

Cody Morehead ran in 3rd for the first 3 laps but couldn’t hold on to it for the remaining laps in 250B. He ended his day in 10th place.

In the 10am race, Brooke Cosner, a support member of Tely Energy Racing, came out battling all day. She never was lower than 3rd and finished with another podium appearance!

Dylan Ely moved to Sportsman A for the remainder of the year and came out determined. He ended his day in 8th place and in 14th overall out of 331 riders.

Another bright spot on the weekend was Olivia Judy! This young lady was focused and determined the entire race. She got the holeshot by a mile and didn’t look back. She just kept charging and dominated her class. She beat the rest of the field by 8 minutes.

Chase Rutan, riding a Husky TC125, had a rought day after losing his seat on the 3rd turn from the start making the first lap a rough ride. After a 2 minute pit to reattach the seat, he went back on the track and salvaged some much needed points by finishing in 8th place.

In the 8am race, Joseph Cunningham battled all day for first place in Super Mini Jr. It was a back and forth affair for the entire race. With white flag out, JoJo had the lead by 2 second but ended up with second by only 10 seconds. The battle put JoJo up to a 5th place overall.

Dakota Cunningham had a rough day at the track. He started out mid pack and couldn’t push passed to gain any ground. He ended his day in 8th place.

Ty Ely had a good day. He finished the day on a very fast track in 5th place. He will continue to battle for a podium spot.

Paul Best was having a great race and battled for first place on the day until he ran out of gas but still ended up with a podium appearance with a 3rd place finish.
