Round 5 Camp Coker Results

The weather was beautiful for Round 5 of GNCC racing. Camp Coker is the one of the best venues that we race all year. It is a great piece of property and one we look forward to all year. Unfortunately, the results were not what we were wanting but still had some success.

The pro bike race was more eventful that we wanted it to be. Steward Baylor, Jr. was right where he wanted to be until he lost 3 pinch bolts out of his suspension which made for a difficult riding experience. Most riders would not have been able to keep going but Stew made it to the pits. After some lost time, AG got the bolts back in place and off he went. The extra time dropped him down to 8th place but he battled back to a 5th place finish on the day. He is currently in 3rd place for the championship.

Grant Baylor has had a rough year due to injury and mechanical issues. He missed Camp Coker due to hand surgery on the Monday before the race. It will only keep him out of this race and he will be back at it at The X-Factor.

Zach Nolan had a great start on the day. He started the day in the top 10 but couldn’t hold on after the first lap. He finished the last several laps in 14th place where he ended his day.

Dylan Ely missed the race due to an injury to his PCL but will be back in full force in Indiana.

Justin Murphy had his best race of the year. He had a great start and finished the first lap in 4th place. He slid down as the race went on and finished in 10th place.

Cody Morehead had his second race of the year. He had a fantastic start as he came through the first lap in 6th place and ran in the top 10 all day. He finished in 12th on the day but is getting better every race as he gets stronger.

In the 10am race, Brooke Cosner finished in 4th place again. Her consistency has kept her in the points race until we can head north for the next race where the terrain is more like home. Look for her to make a move to the podium within the next couple races.

Olivia Judy kept her championship hopes alive with another great ride! She finished the day in second place again. She finally had the start she was looking for and really did a great job.

Chase Rutan had a tough day with the smaller bike on a wide open track but still managed to salvage points with a 10th place finish.

In the 8am youth race, Joseph Cunningham finished his day at the top of the podium. There was a 3 way battle for the entire hour and a half. It was a back and forth affair and one of the best races to watch this year. He is currently in a tie for first place for the class championship.

Younger brother, Dakota Cunningham had another great race. He was in the top spots all daybattled for the top spot the entire race but ended up in 3rd place on the day in 85 (7-11).

Ty Ely had a good start and was as far up as 4th place but after a hard fought race ended up in 6th place in 85 (7-11). He will continue to be a top rider in the class each race.

Paul Best was battling between first and second for the majority of the race but had his crank go out after 4 laps. He is still in the hunt for a class championship and will be sure to rebound in Indiana.

Ronnie Rusch’s bad luck hit again. After mechanical issues were figured out he came from 16th place to salvage points and end up with 10th place. He will get things figured out and then battle for the class championship.

Most of the team is looking forward to getting out of the sand and into their home terrain. Looking for results to get even better in the remaining 8 races.
