Round 6 - The X Factor, IN Results

May 22, 2017

The inaugural X-Factor GNCC race in Peru, Indiana was quite an experience for everyone involved.  It was rainy, muddy, windy and an absolute swampland the entire weekend but our guys can race in any conditions and proved it on Sunday.

Even though weather conditions were horrible, the Tely Energy Race team dominated the mud and mess taking home 5 first place finishes, 3 second place finishes and 3 more top 5 finishes out of 13 racers.

In the 8am youth bike race, Gavin Garlits continued his hot streak with another win on the season.  He battled the awful conditions to take over the top spot in the class championships with this win.  Teammate Ty Ely also had a great day taking home second place.  Side by side on the podium again for another week.  This tandem are going to battle it out for the series championship at the end of the year and are sure to have many more exciting results.  In the 85 (12-13) class, Chase Inmon and Chase Rutan finished with their highest results of the year with a 4th and 6th place, respectively.  Canon Kuneff ran into some mechanical issues caused by the mud and mess but salvaged points to continue to battle for the class championship and ended his day in 10th place.

Due to the extreme weather conditions, the 10AM and 1PM bike races were combined in the afternoon and the Tely Energy Results kept getting better!

Zach Nolan battled through the elements and came off the line like a rocket to win the $100 Holeshot Award and never looked back.  Taking the XC2 podium for the first time this year, Zach stood in the center after a grueling two hour race.  Not only did Zach win his class, he finished with a 5th overall.  Zach has been praying for mud all year and he got his wish with this one although it may have been more than he wished for.  He will be looking to build on this win at John Penton.

Andrew Boggs got his first win of the season in Junior A/B (25+) even with some clutch issues.  He grabbed the hole shot and battled the mud more than his competition all race.  His nearest competition finished 20 minutes behind, so he had the race in hand the entire way.  James Harshberger won his first race of the season as well with a dominate performance in Open B.  Beating his competition by miles, he will continue to build on this race going into John Penton next weekend.  Another win for Tely Energy Racing, came from Cody Morehead.  Cody continues to dominate his class with his 4th consecutive win in 200 C (16+).  If he continues this pace, he is sure to continue to be the one to beat for the class championship.

In 250C Schoolboy (14-17), Dylan Ely continues to use consistent podium finishes to lead the charge.  He finished his day in second place but will see the center spot again with the way he is riding week in and week out.  In Vet B (30+) Scott Dowlin finished with second place after running into some bad luck to start the season.  However based on the results of this race, he has seemed to turn it around and is looking to make a big push in the second half of the season.  Another top five finisher on the day was Justin Murphy in the 4 Stroke A Lites class.  He had some mechanical issues in the past races, but finished this one strong for fourth place.  Ryan Inmon also finished with a 4th place finish in Vet A (30+) and is looking to get back to last years results in the last half of the season.

All in all, it was a banner weekend for the Tely Energy Race Team.  On a weekend that tested endurance, technical skill and heart, these racers went to the line determined to face the weather and mud and proved to themselves and everyone else that they can compete on a high level in the face of any weather.

So whose hoping for rain at John Penton?  I know Tely Energy Racers won't shy away from it.  They know it can't be worse than what they just battled in.  So change the air filters and clean off the muck boots because there is no down time until the next race.  Let it Rain!  See you in Millfield, OH!
