Camp Coker GNCC was the best outing for the Tely Energy Race team for the 2019 season. We were back to the sand and sun for the final southern race of the year. Tely Energy Race team fielded 12 riders for the weekend and ended up with 5 podium finishers and 8 racers in the top 5.
Steward Baylor, Jr. got back to the podium with a 3rd place finish on the day in XC1. He battled with the top 2 racers all day but ended up losing by 20 seconds after a few crashes knocked him back. Nice to see Stew back on the podium but still not where he wants to be. As we head north for the next races before break, he is sure to keep the pressure on the top 2 racers.
Liam Draper improved even more in the South Carolina sand and finished with 4th in XC2 rider. After running in second for most of the race, a couple of crashes in the last 2 laps took him from the podium.
In the 10am race, Brooke Cosner, our WXC rider, ran a good race but had to settle for a solid 5th place finish. She is looking toward improvements in the next couple races.
Chase Rutan had a great race where he ran in 4th for the majority of the race however lost a spot on the last lap after a crash or two. He ended the day in 4th in 125 B/C and 40th overall out of 397 riders.
Bill Gold, a support member of Tely Energy Racing, had a rough day after crashing on the first lap and unable to finish due to the injury in Masters A (50+).
Dylan Ely finished in 16th place after moving to Sportsman A. He ran a great race against great competition and finished in 26th overall out of 397 riders.
In the youth race, JoJo Cunningham went 4 for 4 with his 4th first place finish and 4th overall finish in a row. What a dominate rider he has become in the youth class. He is definitely the rider everyone is gunning for but can’t keep up with yet. He is looking to continue his dominance as we head toward the break.
Garyson Smith is getting the feel for cross country racing and is sure to compete each week. He even led for a few laps, but ended up settling for 2nd place in XC2. He is getting faster and more controlled each week so be on the lookout for him to continue to make podium each week in a tough class.
Ty Ely finished in 10th place after a great start in 85 (12-13). His consistency is keeping him in the top 7 in the class championship. He is looking to improve each race to strive for top 5 in the class.
Three times a charm for Andrew Segars! Segars made it 3 in a row with another first place finish in 85 (7-11). After a rough start in Florida to start the season, he now has a stronghold on the class championship with another dominate performance from start to finish.
Keifer Galiano continues to make the GNCC podium his home. He made it 3 in a row with another third place finish in the 65 (10-11) class. His consistency through the Southern races will help him battle for a top spot when the races move to his own terrain in the north.
Ronnie Rusch finished in XC2 with a 10th place finish. He was running in a top 5 position for over half the race when he ran into some issues and had to settle for a top 10 finish. He is continuing to adjust to the pro class and will continue to improve in the coming races.
