Round 11 - GNCC High Point Race Report
The Mason Dixon GNCC Round 11 was one of the best weekends all season for Tely Energy Race team. The results tell the story. It was muddy and a brutal course but the racers came out on top. Tely Energy Race Team ended up with 3 on top of the podium, 7 podium finishes, and 9 top 5 finishers out of 13 racers.
Steward Baylor, Jr. had a phenomenal race. He led the majority of the race until his hydration pack broke and the heat, lack of water combined with the intensity of the race just was too much to hang onto first place. He had to settle for 2nd place but he gave everything he had for 3 hours.
Grant Baylor had a difficult day and just couldn’t get the flow down. He ended his day in 7th place. Back at it in 2 weeks at Powerline and he is sure to compete for a top 5 spot.
Zach Nolan moved into FMF XC3 125 Pro-Am class to finish out the year and the results were unbelievable. He made the most of the opportunity and finished with his first podium finish of the year with a 3rd place. He is only going to get better with more time of the new bike.
Justin Murphy in 4 Stroke A lites during the 1pm race was battling the entire race and finished his day in 8th place.
In the 10am race, Brooke Cosner, our WXC rider, still recovering from injuries at Snowshoe had a great first lap and then struggled with the rest of the race and had to settle for 5th place.
Dylan Ely, our Sportsman A rider, had his best finish of the year in the class. He was doing a great job and finished in 5th place and 9th overall.
Olivia Judy came out swinging and never looked back. She won her class with a 3 1/2 minute lead on the rest of the pack. Now that she has the bike running good she is going to be putting on the pressure for the battle in the class championship.
Chase Rutan had a good day racing but just couldn’t gain any ground on his class. He ended his day in 8th place after losing his seat on the last lap.
The biggest successes came during the 8am race, Joseph Cunningham came through with a huge win to keep his Championship hopes alive and well. was consistent in the muddy conditions. He battled all morning with 2nd place but came out on top in the end.
Little brother Dakota Cunningham was not going to be outshined by his brother. He worked his way from 8th place to lead the pack. His championship hopes are still alive and well with that win.
Another podium finisher for Tely Energy Racing was Ty Ely. He worked his way from 7th place to finish in a podium spot as 3rd place. He battled the entire race.
Paulie Best was another podium finisher in the 8am race which made 4 for 4 for the team. Paulie started out the first lap in 2nd place and just couldn’t make the push to first but still ended his day in 2nd place. His championship hopes are still alive as well.
College A rider Ronnie Rusch was making a charge to the front when he had a crash and was done for the day. Still managed to salvage points towards the championship but he will be back in two weeks to battle for the top spot.
The Last two rounds for Tely Energy Racing has huge consequences on the year end class championships so it is sure to be some entertaining race in the next couple weeks.
